Searching for a 3.0i or 2.5si

Hi all,

I've been a BMW owner previously with Z3 2.2i and E90 320d m sport. Looking to move back to Bavarian after a few years away. I'm looking for some advice. I have around £8k to spend and considering either a Z4 3.0i. I've also been considering a 2.5si with price being close to my budget, lower tax and not too far off 3.0i 0-60.

So a few q's if you don't mind:

Which is the better prospect for my budget?
Does real world mpg on a 2.5si sit close to 3.0i due to over revving to make the engine work?
Should I be waiting until after Summer for better prices?
Would you go manual or auto? Any downsides to either other than preference?

Cheers in advance!

Dave

Depending on what's available when you're ready to buy, suggest you go for condition, options, mileage & history... there's not much difference between the two in terms of performance

Thanks Jembo. What options do you think? I have cash in bank ready, going on hols on tues so in the next 2 weeks.

Looking at these. I have a thing for lower mileage examples. I just always feel better looking at a low mileage

In your shoes, I'd take the 2.5 as its a facelift, just had the xpensive insp2 and is the si model so is only 10bhp down on the other 2004 3.0i

Check the 2.5 has heated seats, otherwise rest of kit is good & has MV2's, nice though has yuckie runfats

Pls remove the links in case someone poaches the car u want.
