Search for multiple words

If I want to search for how to remove the ashtray, when I put 'remove ashtray' in the search box, I get hits for 'remove' and 'ashtray' separately. I can't find how to search for just that phrase.

Try searching ‘ash tray removal’
I see your location is Somerset, so like me, you are probably using UK English on your keyboard. Your reply contained "smart quotes", single but differently angled quotes. I copied your example, but that didn't work; it still searched for each individual word. I then tried ordinary single quotes, but like my previous attempts, that didn't work either.

What did work was to use speech marks, or double quotes.

Try quotes. "ashtray removes" scores 15 search hits. ashtray removal scores 174 hits. Not perfect, but better than the search engines, I have used, on sites such as Top Gear or Piston Heads. Stick around, have a play, it's really rather good here.

Site search engines are all but useless these days compared to Google with its intelligent pattern searching and auto-synonyms. Far and away the best search is to go to Google and search for:

Z4-forum remove ashtray

and it'll turn up results for removing, refitting, getting out, ashtray, ash tray, fag bin etc etc. If you're feeling excitable there's a proper syntax for limiting searches to a given site:

site:www.z4-forum.com remove ashtray

but the former is good enough 99% of the time.
