Se or sport

As the price on the second hand market is almost the same would you guys advise on which is preferable

A lot of people on here complain about the sport seats being uncomfortable. Do those with the sport wish they had the se for this reason.

Love the wheels on the sport so that's a big plus...

Wheels are an easier / cheaper switch than the seats .
if the prices are almost the same then the sport would be a better buy as it cost more when new as it had M sport extras :)

the sport will be easier to sell in the future

the big question is floppy top or exclusive coupe?

On the sport seats . its not that they are uncomfortable :| . more they aren't what you would call comfortable .
if that makes sense

Floppy top..... 2.0i.... Facelift....pref silver with less than 70k... Well that's the plan

It's going to be my daily, I drive a lot visiting clients... Hopefully the zed will turn a chore into a pleasure...

What could be better, driving around all day in the zed..... Do a lot of country lanes too..... :D

What other m sport extras does do the sport models have

Go for sport - I find the sports seats support me better than standard, especially on lanes

You also get

M-sport chunky steering wheel
M-sport suspension - 15mm lower than standard
And I think the Sport comes with staggered 18 inch wheels as standard - so wider rears than fronts.

Cheers... That's the validation I was looking for..... Sport it shall be

There are a few out there right now..... Time to get serious...

My 53 plated SE roadster had a staggered set up,was it only the 2.0 that had the squared setup :?

Redzedfour, don't know actually, you could have a point there. There's a standard specification and price list thread someplace I saw over Christmas, will try and find it. Stand by caller...

You can tell I'm back on the vino tonight, I thought this thread was Se* or Sport

I'd have gone for Sport either way , love my footy lol

You have described my Zed - facelift 2.0i Sport 44000miles when purchased, now 50,000mls. Sterling Silver and I love it.
I fell in love with the looks - the SE does have different wheels and tyres which i think affect its looks. My sport has staggered 18in as standard 255 rear and 225 front - this makes tyre costs significantly higher on the sport than on the SE. I also believe the ride comfort is softer on the SE than on the Sport partly due to the higher side walls on the 17in tyres and softer suspension - the ride comfort might also be partly down to the seats. See what other members of the forum think - I only have experience of the Sport which I initially found very solid BUT over time have become used to and of course it has it's benefits in the handling of the car which is fabulous. Interestingly my wife has always thought the ride comfort on the Zed is fine - she says - 'Well it is a sports car'. Steering can also be interesting at times dependent upon tyre fitment and condition - tram-lining is sometimes spoken of by members - since I swopt my runflats for Falkens my car has been much better.

We came from an MX5 and find the Zed in a different league. I mention the ride comfort and steering as you state that you are looking for a daily driver - we use our Zed a lot and my wife uses it to commute to and from work and loves it - she is a good driver and enjoys spirited driving. Without stating the obvious the Zed is a sports car and especially in the Sport guise - the MX was a much easier 'sports car' to use on a daily basis - I find the Zed more focussed and exciting - if that's what you want in your daily driver then great - you'll love it! :D :driving:

paulgs1000, funny you mention your wife liking it - I am only ever conscious of the ride quality when I have a passenger, but my passengers are only really either my son or the other half and neither complain - they say the same thing, it's a sports car. My wife doesn't drive mine but she loves being driven in it in a spirited fashion. She's a bit of a speed freak on the quiet, so one day I am going to make her drive it again

I am used to it now, though I am very careful to avoid potholes :D

All 3.0i E85s came with M sport suspension didn't they?

Though I've read that the SE setup is apparently a more comfortable ride.

I love my sport ... It is the M seats which instantly made me know it was the right car when I saw it. Apart from the rather crashy ride and driving round the Cotswolds today scuffing my bumper I think the m suspension with the slight drop adds that little bit extra to the profile too.

The comfort of the seats? ... They aren't the best ... But then it is a sporty roadster and I didn't expect anything else, I'd have got a 3 series for my daily if I was worried about that. Heated seats look after your sore back a little ;-)

Good luck with the search, you will love it.

I had standard seats in my Z4 for over two years, swapping to Sport seats some months back

Pro's
The wider bolsters hold you more into the seat
Heater pads have more coverage
The passenger seat belt sits over the bolster so it doesn’t rattle against the door
Look better!

Con's
They don’t go as far back as standard seats, may 1"?
The bolster will wear much quicker in the fact it protrudes more
They appear to be somewhat firmer than the standards

So i would go for the Sport - However, you will miss on all the fun and satisfaction in not sourcing and fitting all the upgrades yourself. But that might just be me
