Scuttle Panel

The dealer had to remove the windscreen from my car as there was to much adhesive stopping the rubber trim from sitting correctly (This was from the factory)

They chipped one corner so had to replace screen which is always a bonus, however the scuttle panel isnt sitting flush, now the panel is only six months old as they had to put a new one on when they replaced the motor/linkage and this time it does feel secure which it didnt last time as you could easily release one of the fixings.

So the question is, have any of you that have removed this panel to get to the wiper motor/linkage had this problem and did it settle down over time. I did wonder about getting a hairdryer on it to see if that would help.

no.. didn't have that problem, and it doesn't look like that with mine :(

However, I don't think there are any fixings near the corners, so you may be able to heat it gently and "pop" it back into place?

If the dealer did the screen, tbh, I'd get them to fix it, as they obviosly borked it.

I had a similar problem with the middle section on mine after fixing the motor... didn't seem to want to go down, although I couldn't tell if there was something underneath. I ended up replacing mine - about £65 from Cooper Reading.

You could try a hairdryer but the panel is made up of two sections - a hard plastic for the main section with the rubber strip along the top. Heating may work for the nearside as that looks as it it's just the rubber. The offside looks as if the harder plastic has lifted.

For the offside, it appears to be raised very close to where the final fixing sits. Have you run something underneath, gently, to ensure that there are no obstructions and everything is seated correctly? Just be careful looking underneath - the fixings are plastic and prone to snapping either themselves or the connector on the panel.

Thanks for the resposne, I will just get the dealer to sort, I told them about it after the last time and asked them to be careful this time, but obviously they took no notice.

It's going back on the 30th for the other foglight to be replaced so they can sort it then.
