You should go after those punks in civil court, or their parents, if they are minors. Make them pay for your repair costs and emotional distress!

this thread actually reminds me of something that happened to one of my tenants last year. he had a brick thrown through 2 of his windows whilst he was sleeping. he looked out and spotted the culprit who he reported and the cops were able to arrest, apparently a family feud of some sort led to my property being damaged. so i get a phonecall from my tenant telling me about the incident and asking for the windows to be sorted. a few minutes later i get a call from the pc plod asking me to replace the windows as it was an issue and also to make the front door secure as it didnt look too solid.

i didnt have an issue with replacing the window but what i did have an issue with was the plod ringing me up and harassing me rather than preparing the evidence against the criminal. i replaced the windows at my own cost but 12 months on i have heard nothing in regards to what came of the crime and no follow up from plod. but to be honest that is what i have come to expect from the way things are nowadays. it seems like there is one law against the law abiding and another one for criminals. just watch one of those traffic cops programs for proof and it shows exactly what they get away with which we would probably be locked up for!

WE have the "Young Offenders" Act which basically means they can do anything and you can't touch them. My co-worker had a very similar issue, kids poking around his vehicles etc, mouthy punks telling him he can't touch them or he'll go to jail (true).
His solution: he persuaded the nastiest "Young Offender" he could find to beat the crap out of them and then promised them the same again if anything else ever happened to his stuff, cars or property, whether they did it or not.

It was very peaceful after that....

.......... phew, loads of emotional responses in here, what with the killing and the whooping ........ :D :D

Fact is, its out there - its a fact of life, scumbags are everywhere and you can either let it get to you ........ or not.
As much as I love my Z4, it's only a car and there are loads more in the shop - good insurance goes a long way as well.
Most of the folk on here work for a living - and that is today's wammy ........ we can (albeit with pain), go back to work, earn more, buy another car, or move to another area - scumbags can't .........

That said - "fear" is the only motivator ........ german chap in the '40's said that and he was right. The only way to keep scumbags at bay is for it to be common knowledge that they will get back 10 fold what they give to you - and you don't do that by yelling and screaming. A good start would be to attend their court date and find out who they are - just making the effort to get off yer arse and show up goes a long way -

Once had something stolen from my garage worth about 50 quid - pissed me right off that someone thought they could rob me whenever they felt like it - I put the word on the street that I'd pay 1000 quid to get the name and address of who did it. Stuff was back on my porch soon after and nobody ever bothered me again .......

Life's to short to get wound up over scumbags guys - and taking them down when they are on an adrenalin high and tooled up is likely to get you stabbed - "everybody gets theirs in the end ............" thats my motto

Looking down the barrel of a revolver and being told to hand over my car keys is not my fondest memory. I would have paid for it with my life had I refused. Minus one Uno Turbo.

U guys still have it good - I live in South Africa. 'Nuf said...
