Been diving on the Muff for over 22 years Pondy, consider myself a bit of an expert.
At the risk of being Billy big balls and showing off, we got ourselves a wedding present today. This kind of ties in with the pension thread and really the growth in my fund the last few weeks allowed us to do it. Little story behind it and pic below.
Pension pot was doing well last few weeks so said to SWMBO, sod it, lets buy ourselves a watch each as wedding presents whilst we are in Barbados as a bit less expensive than the UK.
Upmarket mall yesterday, picked out the Tag I wanted, sorry, was within reason, but Lynn didn’t see anything she liked. Salesgirl showed her a picture of a womans tag they had in another store and said she would fetch it, only one on the island apparently. An hour later, spent browsing other watch stores, she returns and Lynn loves it. No negotiation as Tag won't allow them to discount.
Agree to the purchase of both watches, salesgirl starts taking links out of Lynn's watch and it flys out of her hand, upward parabola, and onto the floor. Cancel sale please, luckily cc had not been processed.
Looked online when we got back to the hotel and found Little Switzerland in Bridgetown showing one in stock. Quick call with the SKU off the Tag website and they confirm they have it. Great, put it aside please. Ask about the Formula 1 I liked, not in stock, bugger!
Head into Bridgetown today as Columbian Emeralds stock Tag and hoping they have the Formula 1 I like. First stop Little Switzerland to confirm Lynn's Tag is the correct one and it is. Try negotiating again as they don't have the Formula 1 I want and ask for a discount on a Carrera, sorry sir, Tag won't allow us to discount.
However, they will give us a $999 pair of 3/4 carat diamond earrings if we buy the two tags, with the option to upgrade to 1 carat for the price difference.
Always wanted a Carrera and Columbian emeralds was closed so thought fek it, lets do it. Tried to get the 1 carat earrings for free, but they wouldn’t budge so we paid for the upgrade.
We also got an extra two years warranty which is nice.
So basically the ham fisted salesgirl yesterday cost me $2000
However I have the Carrera rather than the Formula 1.
