Screenwash

So looking at other threads on e89 forums, there is some reaction between bmw screen wash and other screen wash brands that can block things up.
With that in mind, what screenwash is everyone using/recommend?
I’ll be honest, I always just buy the ready mixed stuff at the petrol station.

I've always bought the concentrated -40 screen wash from Euro Car Parts which I then dilute. Ive never had an issue with my E89, so not expecting issues with the G29.

I’ve never had an issue either, but stuff on the forums makes me wonder.
Also stories like this aren’t filling me with confidence.

Not sure why a dealer would void the warranty if non BMW screen wash wasnt used, as there is nothing mentioned in the owners manual as far I can see. Perhaps the owners of those cars which had blocked jets, lived in a hard water area? Luckily I live in a soft water area, don't know about you Ori?

I stick with the BMW stuff!
I spoke with a service bloke at the dealership who said mixing causes it to congeal and he had had a few to deal with. He said use other stuff and you’ll be in to have the reservoir cleaned.

5l bottles of Bmw concentrate are often available on eBay from main dealers so I don’t think it’s worth the risk for the inconvenience and cost it would cause.

I use the autoglym screen wash at 1:9 only because I bought lots of them many years ago when it’s on sale at Halfords. I think it’s £3.xx and buy one get one free. I find it okay and haven’t had any issue so far. I think big brand should be okay but try to avoid very cheap stuffs. Also, don’t mix the fluid is the key. Pick one and stick with that.

Even if the filter inside the bottle is blocked, you can fix this by blowing water or air from the outlet and suck out the dirty water from the bottle.

I've always used Tesco concentrate and never had an issue.

Its mixing them that causes problems.

I have always used the standard cheap blue stuff you can buy all over the place. After a year or so of owning the car, the jets stopped working and I discovered the lines were full of gunk. So I'm guessing that the first owner had used different screen wash and that the two reacted. Never had any issues in 10 years since then. :)

So stick with what you got I guess.

I've had the algae problem blocking up the pump filters on an E46 and an E86 so after cleaning everything up I just stuck to one brand of fluid to avoid a repeat.

I'm hoping it never happens to my E90 though becuase the reservoir is behind the wheel-arch liner in the front wing. :o

So unless the reservoir is easily accessible on a G29 I'd be sticking to the BMW screewash!

I think if was on the forum that suggested running hot water thro the system to purge any gunge!

Don’t forget the headlamp jets

It’s ok, just let my wife use the car and it’ll be empty in a week!

In a car or on a shelf? I think, I bought it in 2020 and it's doing fine on a shelf, I'm on second big bottle. It seems to be doing fine in cars too.

In past, I just bought winter mixes in Europe, cheaper and lower temperatures advertised on the label.
