Screen-wash

Apologies if this has been covered already. My screen-wash is now totally empty - I have read it is best to stick with BMW's version. If this is the case, can anyone please advise where is the best place to purchase. Thanks!

I've used concentrate, from various brands, in both my Z4's over the last 10 years without a single issue. Don't get ripped off with branded BMW stuff that's not even made by them, just buy whatever you want. At least concentrate means you can water it down hugely if you want to.

Via Ebay there is BMW Direct which is effectively BMW Battersea. They deliver quickly and you can usually get 5L as opposed to the 1L that dealers normally sell.

If you go to, say, Halfords then just make sure you get one that goes to about -35c as BMW won't cover the warranty on the headlight washer covers if they freeze shut, break and screen wash of a lower standard that the BMW one (temperature wise) is used.

You will get all sorts of opinions on this topic.

I've used all sorts of concentrate over the years and in all sorts of cars and have never had one block up yet.
(now there's the kiss of death)

I asked the question on here once as the service bod at my dealer told me the tales of woe about non BMW additives.

Thanks for the responses. They don't seem to have any on the BMW Direct ebay shop, but I have found this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Screenwash-with-Antifreeze-/331289080512?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item4d225e32c0

Is that competitively priced at £5.80 per litre?

Actually, I just found this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Genuine-Windscreen-Window-Glass-Cleaner-Washer-Antifreeze-5l-83122298207-/131085128981?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e85485515

5l for £19.50.

If you've run it empty, perhaps take the opportunity to check your filter and clear out any residue from the chamber as a preventative measure. Personally, I don't use concentrates as my understanding is that unless you dilute with distilled water, you are introducing organics which can cause blockages. I always use a premix, and have used Halfords, Shell, BMW etc. and have never seen any build-up in the screen wash chamber.

I have used makro s best concentrate for years and not had the nozzles or lines bung up.
The top filter has has a skin develop over it which has required back flushing.
