Scratching noise on startup

Hey all,

Been noticing a weird scratching noise occasionally when starting the Zed. Have sent the two below videos to Sytner who have booked me in for end of Jan. (luckily still in warranty!!)

Has anyone heard anything similar before?

That’s what I thought as well, glad I’m not going mad. Fingers crossed it’s a quick fix...

It’s often dust from clutch wear that clogs the starter mechanism, increasing drag & causing terrible noises :o
Usually just wiping them clean stops it.

I also get that occasionally on e89 28i. Seems to occur more often than not if I have had the car running for only a minute or so and next time I start up, yuk. Keep us updated and if its a simple wipe, what and where do i wipe?

Starter removed & cleaned up.
