Scrap panel worth getting for practice?

Hi guys,

Is this z4 wing worth getting and big enough area to work and practice on?(would love a bonnet but they are expensive )...same colour as my Z4 plus I get an extra LCI indicator as spare ...

jesus thats a lot ! just get an old dark blue wing off a citroen lol - go to any scrap yard and fill your boots!

Ha ha yeah I thought about that too, just thought BMW paints were a lot different but I suppose the techniques and princlpes are the same ?

yes of course! that wing is very small also, not many angles or curves on it - best with a normal wing or even a door if you can be bothered to pick one up!

BMW paint is harder than a lot of other makes so if you want to practise with BMW paint I would get an old door from something like a e46 etc for peanuts etc. Even something with a bit of rust on the edges would be good enough to have a go.
At the cost of the panel you've posted it would be worth just having a go on your own car as you would spend a similar amount(ok maybe a bit more) to have the panel repainted.

thats very true, forgot about the paint hardness.

I wouldnt mind but i binned a rusty e46 wing only last week

If you're using a DA then it's not worth the bother anyway - pretty difficult to feck up badly.
If you're using a proper rotary polisher then deffo get a couple of scrap panels to practise on.
