Scottish Highlands (but not the NC500) and Deeside 1st to 5th September 2025

Another variation on seeing many of the great parts of Scotland..but in this case sans NC500!

Starting near Glasgow, then going down the Kintyre Penisula before heading to Ardanaiseig Hotel on Loch Awe for two nights as a base.

Day 1 is day out exploring the rugged western coast before returning for dinner.

Day 3 sees us going across to Deessdie and staying for two nights at the Boat Inn in Aboyne.

Day 4 sees us exploring Deesside, Whisky Country and some of the fabulous roads out there.



Day 5 see us routing back to Edinburgh and then home.

Hotels are booked for 6 rooms, so trip restricted to a maximum of 6 cars.

A nice 6 isd day potter for some..shorter for some, longer for those transiting into English airspace.

No plan survives first contact with the enemy..our first morning route to Kintyre was blocked by an overnight rock/mud slide..

So a 60 mile detour and we we were back in businsss.

Our two nights in the a ‘romantic’ hotel near Kilchrenan was a remake of Fawlty Towers…

However the result was we ate out at a great seafood restaurant in Oban and had a nice brekkie in Tyndal…

Weather was a bit mixed ..no really heavy rain but a few showers ..still managed more than 50% top down..

Sadly had to leave a day early due to a dear friends funeral near Cambridge.

Thanks to everyone making it a great bash..

A few more …the old inn at Glenuig is now under community ownership and looks really good compared to the faded Inn of a few years ago..
