Quick Question:

I am just about to order:

Schrick Cams 280/288
Shrick Followers (DLC Coated)
Whole set of Schrick Valve springs
Schrick Valve Spring Plates
Schrick Valve Keys

The question is: Are the parts the same for both Left and Right Hand drive cars?

wow thats some shopping list buddy!!!

FYI : i see no reason why there would be difference for a LHD vehicle ?? that would be insane!
 
unless they were linked to throttle, braking, steering or clutch they will be the same.

But if you want to be sure, check with the supplier.

Parts ordered and should receive most of it in the next few days - The followers are delayed by about 3 weeks! nevermind.
 
Will be worth it in the end mate.

You going to keep it now once sorted? Should only really need oil services etc for the next 30K (Possible gearbox/Diff), so should be relatively low cost motoring if everything else is in good shape? Brakes etc!

Wowsers, if you don't mind sharing how much and who are you ordering from?
Do you have anyone lined up to carry out the install?
 
CornishRob, Yes mate, thinking I will keep it now as it will be perfect and I wont be able to sell it - looking forward to it actually. Yer everything has been kept excellently - brakes are great and just had four new tyres.

Sae, No problem mate: I ordered the parts from maxrpm.de - more specifically this kit - http://www.maxrpm.de/Camshaft-kit-for-BMW-M3-E46-Z4-M-32L-24V-6-Zyl-S54B32-with-288-280-Schrick-0415-10-880-01

I will probably go with Phil at CPC to do the work mate.
 
So glad to see you have gone down this route. Shame you had to but hopefully it will be a better car for it.

Be interested to see what it puts out on the rollers once the work is complete. I guess the cams etc will need to be live mapped to get the best gains?
 
FWIW, I think you've made the right decision, too. The real damage is when one makes a hasty, heat-of-the-moment decision so I'm pleased for you that you can buy some time and afford the parts to get this beauty back up and running smoothly. It takes a bit of courage - which you've shown - hope it all goes well. Can't remember where you are but hope to see it on a Forum meet one day!

hmm, id chuck Shrik an email mate, just to be sure.. don't do what i did and buy a egt sensor and find out later the US and the Euro version is completely bloody different and waste 200US..

email them man.
 
I can't see engine internals being different LHD to RHD. Externals - sure. Use bmwfans.info to conform that part numbers are the same. Or not.

Also very interested to hear how this camshaft set works out.
 
Hi All -

Apologies for being so rubbish over the last few weeks. The DLC followers were delayed an extra 4 weeks (on top of the 3 weeks).

I have taken it to get sorted now and should have it back on Friday.

Will update you further when I get it back.
