Schnitzer Kit

Hi i have a z4 2.5 2003 plate. I am looking 2 buy a schnitzer kit for my car and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with selling a Z4 after you have put a schnitzer kit on it? Am I likely to add any value to the car? Or will i lose all of the £ i put in?

Well, it really depends. It definitely won't add values to the car. At best you could hope to break even if you're selling the car privately and you find a buyer that appreciates the bodykit. If you're selling or trading a car to a dealer, dealers will find any excuse to lower the value of your car. I went to a BMW dealer and inquired about trading in my Z4M last week, and they wanted to knock a couple of grands off of my car because I didn't have stock wheels and instead I had my BBS RGR's & Goodyear Eagle F1's (a $5K set-up nontheless).

Or you can just keep your stock bodykit to put back on the car when you're ready to sell the car, and then sell the ACS kit separately. In which case you're probably looking at getting back 50% for a best case scenario.

NOOOOOOO, don't tell me you are trying to sell your Z??? :x

I was actually inquiring about trading in my Z4M-roadster for a Z4M coupe. :D But the dealer decided my clean '06 Z4M with only 10K miles was only worth $28K USD & only would give me a $3K discount for the Z4M-coupe. So that made the decision easy for me. I wanted to ask the sales manager if the Z4M's resale value is so crappy why should I put my ass into another one.

I guess that is good then,,,,,at least you were trying to move to another Z4, albeit the lesser version :poke:

GP20, you know you could have asked me for my stock rims for your trade in. I could always use some BBSs as compensation for your higher car value at trade in.

Either way, you can't go wrong with another Z4... especially the real man's version: Coupé :fuelfire:

Yeah I wasn't really surprised though. That dealer does have a reputation of blood sucking. They're only a couple of miles away from the Microsoft head-quarter and all its millionaire employees, so the dealer knows they can rip people off and get away with it.

Holy crap! :o

What's funnier is I never mentioned that I would sell the hardtop myself prior to trading in the car, so they probably thought they were getting the car with the hardtop too.

f**k the dealers around our area, GP20. Lets take a ride down to Kuni BMW in OR. I've heard they give better service. :)

Yeah tell me about it. Local dealers are f*'king useless. Dropped off my Z4M at the previously mentioned dealer this morning. The soft-top compartment floor had to be replaced because one of the side trims had a broken tab and was loose and fell off. Simple job, right? Should take no more than 5 minutes?

3 hours later. Got a phone call from them - "great new. your car's ready". When I picked up the car, I realized they simply put the trim with the broken tab BACK onto soft-top compartment floor because the mechanic said he didn't notice any broken tab. :headbang: And they went on to say "but we replaced your soft-top sensor (the little silver piece inside the trunk) because it was mal-functioning"

WHAT BROKEN SOFT-TOP SENSOR?

The top was working just fine before I took the car in. They had to remove the hardtop first and raise the soft-top in order to remove the soft-top compartment floor. Afterwards, on the service order sheet, it actually said "soft-top was able to go up the first time, but would not lower after that".

Yeah that's probably because the mechanic broke the little silver soft-top sensor piece while he was trying to remove the soft-top compartment.

Dood... why do you still service your car there? Just take it to the blood sucking dealership I go to. They at least give you free doughnuts.

Hell... better yet... pull the trigger on the Coupé like you've always wanted. No more broken tabs or soft top sensors.

Why did I go there? Well, like I said, they couldn't possibly screw up a simple 3~5 minute job right? I only have myself to blame. :headbang:

And then of course the drive back home when all the interior panels rattled and buzzed like there's no tomorrow was just icing on the cake. I'm really getting very frustrated with this car. My next car will definitely be a coupe. No more verts for me. It won't be a BMW either.
