scary ride in Italy

So on business in Italy today and got a ride from Milan to Parma -in an AMG Merc S class
Driver wearing aviator shades slumped back in his seat ,pinkie on the steering wheel doing 160 bumper to bumper -with Italian R1 blaring out pop music -texting while he drives all the time
Despite a couple of very near misses i made it one piece to my hotel -off for a few sherbets now to calm me down
 
Sounds like you need those beers have had a couple of long cab rides like that in Malaysia not at those speeds though but still worrying when the driver has two phones on the go
 
Perhaps he was trying to clear his engine management light .... :whistle:

The first time I went to Istanbul I was with an Italian colleague. In the taxi from the airport to the hotel she said: " This is exciting even by Italian standards!".

Perhaps is an effort to disprove their boring reputation, the taxi drivers in Brussels don't hang about either.

Once got a taxi into Stockholm from the airport along an ungritted and deserted motorway. With his studded winter tyres the driver managed several what appeared to be be very well-controlled 4 wheel drifts!

Strange that I feel much calmer now I don't travel so much.
 
So on my journey back from Parma to Milan -guess who was the driver -yep the same nutter
So this time i got a pic of him happily looking down at his iphone and not the road while doing 160 km/h -he was so engrossed he didn't even notice me taking the pic
I sent the pic to a colleague in the company in Parma -and he said -oh dear i have had this mad man before and duly reported him and he was previously fined and suspended .
Reckon he wont have his job for much longer .He needs to be removed before he kills someone . I mean surely an AMG S class would have hands free ?

That's what I've oft wondered, premium cars but no Bluetooth/hands free or whatever. See it all the time and still can't make it out. :?
 
A few years ago, with a group of colleagues, I had to change hotels in Baku involving 6 or 7 taxis. Our driver :evil: decided it was a race.
wrong side of road into oncoming traffic, up pavements behind lamp posts and weaving through traffic at speed. When we arrived pale
and shaking at the destination he threw up his hands in victory as we arrived first by seconds. Good job hotel bars are always open :thumbsup: .
