It seems to be getting worse!

Ive had one to tell me that my BT subscription had a problem then another this evening to tell me the same tale about my Netflix account.
I have neither BT nor Netflix - I wonder what they would do with my Bank Account details etc that Im sure they would want if Id been dopey enough to open the email.

Ok while we still have a few brain cells but what happens when we get old?

I had one earlier this week phoning me to tell me my Amazon Prime membership was about to end unless I pressed number.......Which is strange as I don't have Prime!

And I've had 2 calls this week about my Life Insurance - which is also strange as the only policy I had expired last year. :lol:

Then they tried to tell me I needed life cover, so I made it pretty clear I don't!

I have to admit to getting an scammer from the Indian sub continent so wound up that he ended the call by shouting "Go Fck Yourself" :rofl:
I was told never say "Yes" to them as that can be clipped and copied into a verbal statement stream.

I had someone collecting for cancer research at the door the other day. He looked like an 18 yr old bob marley; eyes all over the place and dreds flopping everywhere.
Upon asking him for his ID he proceeded to pull an empty plastic ID card holder out of his pants pocket...together with a 'jointje koker' which in English, is a little plastic container that holds a single spliff which you can buy in most 'coffee bars' here in NL.
It fell to the ground and he scrambled to retrieve it before I noticed but it was too late. I said, 'It's not a good look to be honest....?' to which he responded 'Oke, fijn weekend jonge'. Which basically means 'ok, nice weekend mate', whereupon he proceeded to stumble on down the road.

I don't know if it was a scam or a somewhat demotivated legit charideeworker...

I had a message from the HMRC, telling me I was about to be arrested, that the Police were en route. They didn't arrive :rofl: :rofl:

On a possibly related note there was a huge leak of hacked databases into the public domain recently: https://www.zdnet.com/article/23600-hacked-databases-have-leaked-from-a-defunct-data-breach-index-site/ If you had an account with a service that was previously hacked then you might see fresh attempts to use that information against you, for example via a scam email or as part of a brute force attack against other sites. The purpose of the second attack is in case you use the same username and password combination elsewhere. :|

I had two the other week both the same recorded message from two different numbers claiming they were my internet provider and telling me there was some fraudulent activity on my account and that my account would be switched off within 24hrs, then prompted me to press a number to speak to an advisor :wkr:

Been through a lot of those.

Usually keep them hanging on for a while just to waste a bit of their time before hanging up.

I get the

You have been in a car crash that is not your fault

They have not details of the event.

Hang up
Ask them to identify the event as I have had 2 or more (not I have not)
Ask if it was the one where I was cut out of the car and my leg was left behind
Ask them to remove me from the data base
Ask them how many mugs of Horlix thy need to sleep at night

I had the HMRC the police are on their way one too.
My usual response to the "I'm calling about your recent accident " is to say it wasn't an accident, I meant to kill them. Usually gets rid of them.

I had an ambulance chaser from India call me a few years back. Clearly reading a script and only understood the words yes/etc because I told him the accident was so bad that I died. He then asked if I received compensation and I said no, because I died. He really didn’t get it! He put me through to his supervisor, presumably to start the scam rolling and I said the same to him. Eventually he started to chuckle and said (in a cheerful way) I was an evil person, to which I agreed with and we ended the call amicably!

Had another from an English lady and tried the same. She was having none of it, saying “you obviously didn’t die as your talking to me”...

I’m making assumptions of location/nationality based on their accents, but the calls really did happen.

Recently have a couple of text messages one from HMRC telling me i have a tax rebate .
The other one was my o2 service provider had a problem will my account .
I normally block the numbers but i couldn't block these :headbang: .
