Scam callers

Ive just had a call from “The UK Verification Dept” re a refund of a decent amount of £’s from a Govt department - the woman had an Asian type accent.
She kept saying Verification Department and I kept on replying SCAMIFICATION Department

She got so angry and said I needed my ears washing out ,,,,,!

Result

If it's a HMRC refund scam and you have some details you can report it: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-revenue-customs/contact/reporting-fraudulent-emails

I forwarded them a text message this morning. I normally just ignore scam emails, texts, and calls but the amount of them is hitting a level that's annoying enough for me to do something about it.

The National Crime Agency wants to talk to me urgently. “Press 1 to speak to a detective . . .”. Yeah, right.

Just had another call trying to pry into life insurance- when pressed, although a Manchester Tel No the agent, when pressed admitted she was calling from China

I had this on Tuesday and they left a voice message so thanks for the link

Isn’t it fortunate that the Indian and Nigerian accent acts as an alarm bell in our subconscious as soon as we hear it in one of these calls! If it wasn’t for that signifier these fekkers would all be doing a LOT better for themselves I think.
Can’t help but feel that they’re (fortunately for us) missing a trick by, strictly from an operational improvement aspect, they aren’t investing in elocution lessons for their hordes of telephone operators so that they would at least sound half-way convincing.
Now there’s a business opportunity for someone!

Caller display is very useful for these calls, if we don't recognise the number it doesn't get picked up. If the caller wants us they can always leave a message but none do.

It’s easy to fake dialled from numbers though, they can make an overseas call look like it’s coming from your own town.

Absolutely right, it took a while to realise though. Trust No-one!

Call centre noise in the background and an Indian calling himself John or Sam or so.

End of conversation.

Had a few of the post office / amazon parcel mails and also the amazon prime account is up for renewal, storage as I pay monthly.

The one I detest is you have been in an accident, my reply, I think so but suffered amnesia can you give me some more details - click :D
