scaling pictures

Is it possible to automatically scale pictures to the width of the browser window? If you go to http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing their forums do this.

It's just that sometimes someone posts a huge image which makes the whole page wrap off the right hand side of the screen, making it time for 'hunt the quote button', etc.

I think I can acommodate that... please can you show me an example on their site and I will work out how it is done?

If you click on the pic you see it's much bigger, but scaled when it's in the thread.
