I cańt understand either why BMW has let Audi run away with that small estate business. I guess instinctively we all go towards 4WD for load carrying.
Read an interesting old Evo review of RS4 (b7) vs E61 M5 the latter was not found laking in the full on handling / grip department in tought roads at 10/10ths.

Took me a while too, got halfway down before I realized...
Not for me, can't stand estates. Had one once, horrible rattly thing and all that space just seems to act as an echo chamber for road noise.
Mind you it was a Ford Sierra
