Saw a blue 53 Reg Z4 today...best colour...

On the way to work i saw a 53 plate blue Z4 today. What a colour.

You could have mistaken it for black. Really showed off the lines. Its was like a dark matt blue....maybe not montego...

Monaco blue may be? They have it on 3 series but not sure if it's on Zeds. It's very dark blue, looks like black in some light but on bright light looks navy blue metallic.

I really like it too, assuming we're talking about the same colour! Not seen on a pre-facelift.

Although this is one thing that drives me mad with car adverts... ads saying "best colour combo" as a lot of the time I disagree! And surely that's for me to decide... I don't remember who but I'm sure there was a dealer that within two weeks proclaimed silver with black and black with red to both be the best olour combo for an M3.
 
The only OEM pre-facelift blues were Maldives (mine) or Toledo.

Toledo looks like a dark Monaco normally, but turns a lot lighter in the sun.
 
With prices so varied at the moment I'm half tempted to advertise mine at the upper end (frankly a bit of a silly price) and see what happens... if it does go maybe get a 3.0 in Toledo Blue! Oddly I too only saw one for the first time the other day (facelift).
 
I think the colour you mean is Midnight Blue , it is not a standard colour on the Z4 but is is avaiable as "individual "colour
Depending on the light the colour changes from almost Black to Blue
In the pictures you can see the colour , the pictures are taken from different sides
