Save Brighton Speed Trials

This wonderful and historic event is under threat by Brighton City Council (Green as cabbages) taking advantage of the tragic death of a competitor in the 2012 event. No spectators were hurt nor were any ever likely to be, and entrants compete in full knowledge of the risks. The Council is shamelessly cashing in on the accident last year. Please sign - many a BMW competes in this, perhaps even members of this forum.
 
Bloody car-hating, lycra-clad, green loonies.... 20 mph limits all over town (grumble), unused cycle lanes that disrupt all the other traffic (mumble), bus lanes that take up half the main roads forcing all other traffic into a single lane (carp), exorbitant parking charges (moan), first against the wall when the revolution comes....

Signed. I've not been for a few years, another fantastic, up close Motorsport event that health & safety bullshit will try to ruin.

Nearly 1200 now (only an hour later) - it started on the 19th and these things take a bit of time to gather momentum, it runs until Jan 23rd so should gather a fair number by them
 
This country is infected with loony councils and many many more equally loony councillors most of whom see their role as a job! They think they know best.

Try and get hold of a book called "The Durham Cobbler" its a real eye opener!

How many people have died from aids after having their bums screwed in Brighton? And the local council aren't trying to ban that are they?

Signed (a few days ago whilst lying on the beach 8) ).... Not only due to having many happy memories from childhood and as an adult, but also because I want to take part in September :x
 
Have signed the petition - good luck with this - something we don't want to lose!

I have a family that used to take part in speed trials in Doncaster years ago on Levi motorcycles - they were winners too. Do not want to see this event lost!
