Satnav volume

Afternoon all,
Finally started tinkering with 'Project Freeleeta' which is the first one I've had with the old flippy screen and satnav.
I can set up the satnav and it takes me exactly where I want to go.
However, the woman giving the instructions insists on bellowing at the top of her voice!
I found 'Navi volume' in the settings, and adjusted it as low as it will go. She just shouts 'QUIETER' or 'LOUDER' at exactly the same volume whatever I do.
I found that if I'm quick I can make her quieter using the volume knob while she's talking, but at the next instruction she's back up to full megaphone mode.
The looks you get driving through town with the roof down and this bloody woman shouting at you to 'TURN LEFT'. :headbang:

To be honest, I'd happily have no volume at all.
So is there some other way to adjust it, or failing that, turn the instructions off?

There's an app for that.
Sometimes my friend, you're about as helpful as a fart in a spacesuit!

As you know, we hermits of Norfolk rarely stray into the big wide world anyway, so I won't in all likelihood ever use the satnav, but as a selling point, being deafened at every junction is not going to go down well!

I think the voice level is set to the age of the driver mate, can't be changed.

Pardon?

Finally got the car back on all four wheels and started up.
Nearly shat meself when Brian Blessed's louder sister yelled at me again!

Please, does anyone have any sensible suggestions for what is wrong, or what I'm doing wrong, or just how to mute the damn woman?

something down in this thread (yes I know its a e89, but its discussed further down)..

or this

might be no help, but I tried!

Appreciate it's no use in the end, but I really thought I had the answer!
The whole turning the volume down while she was talking was how I had changed it in the past. However, I can't remember if it 'sticked' or not, as you say yours returns to full volume after.

Sorry, I'll take a look when I'm next in it.

I've taken a screenshot of the zpost theory and will try it tonight. Thanks.

I'd love to know how you get on - I've only used the Sat Nav once on my car. :(

Apart from taking an age to programme my destination the BLOODY WOMAN KEPT SHOUTING AT ME. :o

I wonder if turning down the Nav also affects the speed related volume of the stereo?

Tried everything. I think she's getting angry now!
Thing is, the satnav isn't actually that bad, but I can't put up with her!

You can switch the volume off though but only for that trip.

Press the control button, then press it long again and the speaker symbol will have a line through it.

To adjust the volume I found that there are two places. One is the relative volume which I set to low, and the other is by switching music on and then do the louder and quieter thingy

Ah ha! I was trying to work out how to turn it off!
The relative volume does nothing and I'm not fast enough to turn it down every time Bellowing Bertha says something.
Turning volume off each trip is no great hardship though.
Thank you.

My sat nav hasn't worked for 7 years. No plans to ever fix it? :D

What PVR says rings a distant bell though. I had the relative volume turned right down. I also have the auto volume thing switched off. Used to drive me nuts when the music got louder the faster you went. That's what the S54 is for after all. :D :driving:

Be no good as a getaway car as the cops would know where you were going to turn next, even if they were half a mile behind.

Morning Zed,

I was in the Z today and checked out the nav volume.
Mine was directly related to the radio volume.

So was listening to the Radio, normal volume, Sat nav on. She was average volume, turned radio up (when she was not talking) next instruction was considerably louder, in line with the radio.
Turned radio all the way down, (again when she was not talking) and she was super quiet again next instruction

I don't know if you usually have the Radio on, or something through Aux? I didn't play around with it any more than that.
In my head it could be in line with the radio, but totally separate to the Aux volume? I feel like some craziness like that has happened before

Cheers,
