Yes, can definitely be done. I did mine a couple of months ago from 2014 - 2021.

You can get upto date maps from BMW.. (other sources are available)

Hi all ,
thanks for your replies ,I finally spoke to parts dept at my local dealers yesterday , very helpful , maps is available as you all state , on a usb to be purchased with relevant code . He advised to wait as there is a new version pending around June price wise was around £80. Will post back in June on this one just to close my question .

Replying carefully so as to not breach forum rules :?
Three ways to do it;
1) For FREE - sorry but I can't tell you how!
2) Cheap off eBay - possibly not legit!
3) As you've now discovered, from BMW directly - fairly expensive considering what the car cost in the first place!!
There are a number of videos on YouTube giving you step-by-step instructions on how to perform the update, and it is relatively straightforward to do. Basically you put the USB stick (with the new map update on it) into the glovebox USB port, turn on the car and then follow the instructions on the screen. :driving:
