satnav symbol help - sorted

Can anyone tell me what the grey little 'targets' are on the satnav map screen? They are a circle with another circle inside
Nothing in the manual that I can find and its annoying me - am driving past these little targets and looking around trying to work out what the hell they could be??
BTW I am firm fan of the satnav - I know there are mixed views but I have found it excellent - my TomTom has been given to my wife!

EDIT -
Have done a search on the web and found out they are apparently u-turn locations!

Aren't they Point Of Interest? If you search for nearby petrol stations, the grey symbols mark them out on the map.

I think.

Noooo not u turn locations - they imply the centre of a village / town dont they? If that's what you mean by target.

Could do I guess but often they are very close together - sometimes as many as 3 in one area even down to 450 yard scale?

That is what i thought they meant too, centre of village etc

Yes I'm pretty sure the the bullseye symbol represents geographic centres of villages or areas, although when you look at them on a map you have to question centre of what sometimes??

So its either a centre of something (we assume village) or a turning point, or maybe something else  crop circle??

I think you're onto something there....possible UFO direction markers....

I pulled up the Manual for the new sat nav system (I assume the symbols are reasonably similar) and found this:

The circle witha crosshair in it is : Interactive Map . Probably means you can click on it and see more neat stuff etc..

A list of symbols is on page 132 of the 2009 Z4 manual. Canadian version,, however a lot of the background text is in German so it's probably world wide.(I don't have Sat Nav in my car )

nope.. definitely quite different to the iDrive Nav.

99% sure.. it's the middle of a village. Only way you should see ones closer together than logic dictates is possible either zoom settings, or inconsistent map data around a village.

Imagine if you mapped from Birmingham to Cambridge - at some point in Cambridge a "bullsye" will exist which will symbolise when you're "there" - ie the centre as marked by the Nav. Every village / town will have one of these.

I think the village centre thing atch makes sense - looked again last night and there was one per small village I passed through - they are small and v close together so it is feasible
Found the info bit for the first time and very impressed; is there any way to update the entries for the POI?
