Satnav screen brightness keeps fading

I've noticed that the screen brightness keeps dimming. I got the car back from BMW last week and thought it was my mind just playing tricks, as I never noticed it suddenly drop. So went into the settings and adjusted it to full instead of half. Thought that had done the trick but then notice it still kept changing. So am now wondering whether the screen is back lit and that is on it’s way out. Any ideas?

How oftne does the brightness change? Once in a while or couple of times a minute. I noticed mine doing this when I first got the car last year. Then I realised that when the autolights come on, the interior lights come up and the sat nav display dims. During dawn or dusk when there is still some daylight, the autolights seem a little confused and come on and off. Are your headlights set to auto while this happens? From your description, could it be related?

You may have a point. I retrofitted the sat nav myself this summer so havent had it during a winter, and with the clocks going back this may explain it. My lights are set to auto. I do find it changes when I first get in for the first 10 mins. When you do start playing with the brightness it seem to brighten up when going in and out of a menu which then just makes it impossible to set.
