Hi

I used to have a brodit proclip thing on my E92, but it doesn't fit the Z4. Is there a recommended mount for a tom tom that doesn't go on the windscreen? Ideally something that fits to the trim, around the centre of the car.

I use a vent mount:

Ive always thought the brodit clip for the z4 to be a tad low and too far to the left. ie too much of a distraction IMO

I have the Z4 Brodit mount. It fixes to the left of Aircon direction rotor angled towards driver and as you know there is a mount for any device (well almost any)

that does seem a bit far away - I'll have a play in the car to see how it'd feel. That first one looks pretty good though - fairly discreet. Do you have a link or description?

I use a Krussel Magnetic Mount.

Because it is magnetic i can use it for the phone/ipod also.

I will get you a pic tomorrow. Well worth the £5!!!!

I bought it through ebay back in Nov 2007 when my windscreen mount broke and didnt wanna give TomTom another £50 for a genuine replacement mount...

ebay shop I bought it from was save4com you'd have to have a search to find one suitable for your device - they others which are not for TomTom as well.

one thing I will say is that there is no angle adjustment to it so the unit is mounted in parallel with the dash - I have no problem with it though :D

oh and it cost me a £5

a11y - @ £4.30 its gotta be worth a shot no?

I bought the e bay one its useless ! doesnt tighten so the unit just shakes like crazy when driving like you said worth a shout at the price but think im going to go the tom tom route now

Never moves, no shaking. Stays fixed forever.

Plus it adds character to the dash!!!!!!! I have one in each car..

Regarding the "TomTom", Ahem...its not a TomTom if you know what i mean. Unit cost me £30, and the rest was done via PC..

that looks perfect - nice and discreet. Need any drilling/installation?
Nope, no drilling and no damage to dash.

The mount attaches via a super strong adhesive on the back off it. Remove the film and press firm for 10 secs. you get an alcohol wipe so use that to clean beforehand.

Then you may need to attach the tiny metal plate (comes with the mount) to the back of the tomtom unit. Simply stick It on.

Then you have a magnetic tomtom.

Search for krussel quick/magnetic mount on Google or something.

I had a vent Mount in my A4 and it kept shaking and rattling. The Z has a Nice flat dash for the krussel to attach to.

Make sure you get the mount in a good spot in your eyeline. So the tomtom is easily visible.

cheers
Don
