Can anybody confirm that you cannot get Mk3 DVD SatNav Drives

I'm looking on ebay for a Mk4 drive which all seem to have the DVD logo in the centre, and all Mk3's dont, except one.

It's advertised as a Mk3 but with logo.
 
There are no MKIV part nums on that page. I think I have MKIV and my part num starts with 6590 9 115 ..... It has DVD logo on it but there is nothing on my unit that says MKIV or MKIII. ?????
 
MkIII is a CD system, MkIV a DVD system.

I know as my X5 system died some time back and I replaced it with the superior DVD system with all its extra data stored.

I'd never trust anyone's labelling on Ebay and confirm myself with it's part number

Thats what I thought about the MK3 = CD, MK4=DVD but looking at the ad and the page I listed above diesnt appear to be the case.

Ah well then maybe my assumption is wrong. Personally I'd simply move on and get a MkIV with all its extra functionality than risk this unit
 
And for the money that one went for, you could almost get a MKIV anyway. For both the retrofit projects, I think the costs were £250 for the first unit and £299 for the second one.

Most of the MK4's seem to be going for nearer £300
 
Don't worry about me and pvr - we dig at each other endlessly for no good reason.

Yep £206 would be a good price if it really is the same as a MKiv unit with the same functionality and capable of taking the latest 3d OS. I'd need to dig it out but BMW cut off software upgrades progressively from MKi through to MKiv so even if you loaded say V31 it has no new functionality beyong say V26 Result could be disappointing
 
PVR also has a dig at me once in a while, generally because I bought the sat nave monitor and CID from hime and havent fitted yet.

I know you guys are only joking, all adds to the enjoyment of the best Z4 forum.
