Sat Nav Update advice please?

Morning
My car has v26 firmware and 02-04 Nav High software. If I want to upgrade the Nav software do I need to update the firmware? The Stealer wants to charge me £58 to update the firmware then I need to buy the updated software for Nav. I want to do it legally how should I preoceed? Any advice please?

You can download the firmware from http://www.xoutpost.com/. Just make sure you bun the CD at 1x otherwise you will be asking for trouble.

But for the map DVD your only option is a main dealer or you maybe be lucky and find an original copy on ebay.

if you have any joy updating the maps let me know - I managed to purchase a copy of the fimware form a fellow member but the maps did not work :-(
 
Can confirm I have just upgraded to the latest firmware (V31) that has features such as 3D mapping. See my links above. Easy peasy, download image, burn to CD, turn ignition to first step, insert CD, wait a few minutes and done.

There is a user on XPost who had made a custom firmware with night mode and speed camera POIs - I have asked him for a copy.

I won't be paying the dealer £150 for the latest maps as the ones that came with the car seem to have been OK every time I have used them.

Regarding the maps we only do legal stuff on this site, so dont ask for anbody to make you a copy otherwise the mods will want your gonads. :cry:
 
I would think the vast majority of DVDs on ebay will be pirated versions, despite what they say in the description.

I don't need the firmware CD now I've upgraded, want me to pop it in the post?

Sorry, don't know if my post came across wrong, by saying I wasn't going to pay I meant I was fine with the old maps rather than fishing for copies.
 
I now have the custom firmware running with night mode and switchable camera POI alerts. Really chuffed - the Xoutpost has some really useful info. Can finally ditch the TomTom now :)

I agree about ebay although mine was legit, and thanks for pointing out the typo :oops:
