Sat Nav - Turn off voice commands?

Can someone please tell me how to turn off the voice commands on a mkIV satnav?

Also whenever I try to change the volume of the voice command via the steering wheel the next command come back at the previous volume level. I have set the volume in the settings but even this seems to high a volume some times.

To answer your question: Press the selector knob, select 'Instruction', press and hold the selector knob for a couple of seconds - the voice is now muted (the speaker symbol next to 'instruction' now shows a line through it)

Note that you can also change the volume of the sat nat relative to the music you're listening to by using the INFO button. You will see an option for NAV-Min. This will give you options to how much louder / softer than the music she will give instructions.

So for example you can set the NAV-Min to 3. Which means even if the music is turned all the way down, you will still hear her instructions. Then you can set the Nav Max to 6. Meaning even if you turn up the music all the way, her voice will still not go any louder than 6.

Then you can go into SETTINGS (where you adjust the time/date,etc.) and change the 'default' navigation volume she will say 'LOUDER" or 'QUIETER'... but only within the range of the NAV-Min you set in the previous step.
