If pics don't look the same regarding antenna been above rear view mirror.
It might be in the dash. Am sure have read some are in there. Will try an find

Awesome just what I needed

PS mine also shows 8 satellites but on one of the other gps function screens just says searching..

My dots on the map seems to max out at 4 from memory, tricky to count them on the motorway!

Just popped out to the drive, only 3 dots & no GPS, so does that mean it's working or not?!

Don't have the skills to do this, so if it needs changing will need to find a specialist; they can't get it wrong, can they??

You mean team PVR?

The GPS is less than a tenner, is magnetic and is rather simple to fit. Just need access to the rear of the satnav computer. I would blame srhutch for being to rough with your existing antenna when ripping your centre console out

Haha, hadn't even thought of team PVR, however...

I thought the GPS unit from what I'd read was above the interior light, and likely to be the antenna rather than the cable itself....but you've seen my knowledge and skills on these thing first hand :P

I can buy Thai tho....and for those not aware, not of the variety you could be thinking :D

I fitted my antenna next to the radio on the vertical metal bar. The antenna is magnetic so will stick fine there, feed the cable down the side of the console to the rear and plug in the computer there. The cable is about 10 meters long so plenty of slack there.

You can also do the fix indeed that someone else did here on the antenna itself, probably even quicker and points even more to srhutch's butchering of the centre light there :)

You forget my vents don't come out, or at least I've never managed despite wasted hours - we never needed to remove them at yours after locating the rattle wasn't there.

You mean removing all of the plastics as per last time with the intravee install? Can see me buying a Brodit mount for the iphone, seems significantly less work, but not as clean. I thought the camera was wired in through the rear view plastic surround, but may have missed him tinkering with the other wiring :P

Daft question & showing my true skills, but having 2 GPS antennae in the same place wouldn't cause any issues would it??

if it helps I had it worst. I live in texas and one time i was trying to find a friend's new house and the GPS in the z4 showed i was in the middle of the north atlantic ocean! half way across the US and then half way across the ocean!! :? i should have visited the UK while i was at it... :driving:

My intravee speed never seems to drop out, and believe this is based on the GPS signal, hence different to the speedo.

Could it be the cable for the camera is on top of the antenna, hence blocking the signal?

Car never seems to lose where it is & knows I am changing roads etc.

The above image of 8 satellites remains true when driving, but there are a lot of zeros under the S/N column, is this the sign it isnt working?

Cant imagine a car audio place would charge too much to swap it out would they?

I shall put my spare GPS antenna in the car for the Midlands meet this Sunday Anyone need it, it theirs, or pm me so I know who wants it

Down to no satellites now & nav just keeps telling me to return to the route. Before a spirited drive, it still knew where I was, a few fast sweeping bends & I'm now a good half mile off the road I'm travelling along, bugger!

Think I need a new antenna now, or just to reconnect what srhutch undid  :D

Due to remove (break!!) my centre light tomorrow to have a look

So mine magically worked for a while yesterday until I went into a tunnel and then as we came out it got lost..

Def need a new antenna just need to know which of the two..

the right angled connector:

Or the straight one:

Will then order and replace

It's nothing to do with the Sat Nav. It's actually a common E86 issue that's been kept quiet for years. It's down to the tin roof on the Coo Pee blocking the signal to the satellites. Roadster drivers don't have this issue as we know where we're going and therefore don't need Sat Nav. Easiest and best solution is to get a Roadster and offload the tin top to some unsuspecting individual sharpish! :poke:
this is as far as I got on this thread.

I agree  :driving:

The links earlier in the post suggest the right angled, and was what I was going to order but didn't get round to investigating today...washed it & went for a drive instead :driving:

Oi :poke:

Just found this thread. If you buy an antenna with shirt lead there is no need to go back to the drive. Just replace the one above the rear view mirror as there is a correction there.

Many of us have cameras there so that won't be the issue. I would just expect you antenna has packed up which appears to be quite common.

Cheers, weirdly I was back to intermittent signal today. Decided a drive was in order rather than fixing it & for the sake of a spare antenna might as well order one & then have a look rather than remove the interior light twice.

Was never in doubt of your wiring! Blame PVR for the defamatory post.

Hope you enjoyed the holiday?

Can anyone confirm the connector type? Right angled or straight please?
