Sat Nav Speed Camera Warning

No audible warning, just an icon of the POI (Place Of Interest) when that's near enough. It's also just a 'proximity warning', it doesn't check if the POI is actually *on* the road you're on, just if it's nearby.

The OP states his audible warning had stopped and that's what he wants to reinstate. As far as I know only the later modified ones had the facility for audible warnings as it took them a while to work out how to do it.

But that's the odd thing, the OP is using an original NAV disc since it has the holograms on it.

try looking at your points of interest!!
ON A ORIGINAL DVD THERE ARE NO SP CAMS

check out this guy ,and ask him
he knows

done some buisniss with him very nice !

im guessing they stopped because it now has the OEM disk in, has the dealer noticed & changed it recently ?

i have audible alerts & speed cameras on mine, they are activated by default and you can only turn them off by changing the language.

works pretty well altho it's not perfect, but it 100% isn't original.

only thing that would worry me is that if the firmware has been modded to give the alerts and you're running it without the correct dvd, that might make it buggy.

what screen comes up when the screen opens? original should give you the ==o== BMW logo, most of the modded ones use an /M logo although you can have anything you want.

Thats a good point Andy - also check what firmware version you are running by following this:

The audible warning was just beeping, no voice, beeped louder as you approached if going above the correct speed.
I'm sure the disc hasn't been changed as this has happened recently whilst the car was sitting on the drive. Didn't coincide with any visits to the dealer. Besides, the disc looks pretty genuine...
Firmware version is: SW 4-1/71
And no, no sign of "Speed Cameras" in the POI.

That sounds more like a Road Angel alert or such - maybe there was a subscription that's expired - would the previous owner know?

The only way to customize the OEM is so it makes a beeping noise and usually a voice "Attention Ahead" is most common - not increasing volumes.

So I agree, I think you've got something hidden under your dash that's beeping, & agree about subscription expiring.

However ... when the subscription expires, it just does not update any more but existing cameras will still be heard though ...

Yeah, will be the illegal one, as I have the same disc in mine. You need to go to point of interest, current location, UK speed cameras and do a search, then there should be an option in the setup menu to turn the warning sound on and off.

I noticed from the earlier link that the "reseller" is offering "night view". Is this controlled by software and different to the screen brightness adjustment on the screen?

Yes - my nav is running custom firmware (from XOutpost) that has a day/night selection in the menu that changes to dark colours, similar to TomTom navs.

Don't pay for it though - the instructions to make are pretty easy.

I've had it in mine since the week it was released, & have helped several other members too. I flicked back to the day mode because I'm not sure I like it that much, but the Speed Cam warning is useful, even tho I already have a Pogo Alert.

BTW alexhall - I think you've missed a few posts, really doesn't sound like this is what the OP has.
