SAT NAV Software Upgrade...

I'm looking into upgrading the OS on my Z4...

Just wondering, is there any problems jumping from V26 (not sure which version mine is yet), to the lastest version (V32), or do I need to do each of the updates?!

I have got the V32 image, burnt it to a CD using Nero...Am I correct in thinking all I do now is put the car into position 1 igintion, let the SAT NAV load, eject the DVD, place the burnt CD in and then let it load?!

Thanks,
Tom

You got it Tom
Only thing is to make sure you do not disturb it on the upgrade until its finished. Suggestion is 6 minutes, but usually way quicker.

No need to go through all the versions.

Look on x5world.com if you want detailed insights and information.

Thanks for the reply matey! I've been looking on the site and trying to find all the info!

I'm wanting to change the splash screen too...Looks like I've got to go from V31 then to a Custom V32...

Just wondering, is there any chance of totally breaking the sat nav by doing this?!

Thanks.

Ah - now you're messing more so have more risk. Read up on x5 world, but basically you move onto a custom version, so if on V32 create a new version V32.1 If you need to at anytime you can go back by keeping your old V31, etc. To do the splash screen you need to get into the ISO file using some of the tools off X5world create your new custom OS and load that.

the slowest option i have is 12x when using nero! will this be an issue?!

Yes - pretty much every thread I've ever read from the guys who know their stuff on this state 1x speed to get a good quality burn.

Yes this was my first thought after screwing my DVD drive up after just fitting it. It took over two hours to sort the problem because I didnt burn at 1x, the biggest issue was actually removing the disc from the drive which resulted in being rather athletic and so on because as soon as you lock/unlock/open the door etc it activates the drive and results in being very difficult to eject the disc. I have also read people saying do not touch anything whilst updating the drive, including opening and closing doors etc.

I used a piece of software that forces the drive to 1x think it was called ISOBURN just google it.

If it doesnt support 1x drop me a line and I will try and dig out what it was.

i've read this so many times about burning slowly and I totally agree it's a good plan, but I've burnt 5+ dvds for mine, i never worry about the type of disk and always burn at 4x and I've never had a problem at all. I guess I've been lucky with media, but all I would say is maybe burn one and have a go.

I've even burnt copies on double sided media and had different ISOs on each side so i could flip over if it ever got scratched but they just keep on spinning

Hey guys,

I've got the update completed now! Got the splash screen changed too...Just wondering, how do I get the splash screen to display?! it show'd up one on rebbot and thats it!

dont believe I did all that for it to show once...

Any ideas how I cant get it to display again without updating the system again?! I'm already on V32 you see...

Well, it shows once when you turn the ignition on. The again every time when you wake the car up from deep sleep.

Normally you get the BMW sign with the lines on the display on cold boot. That is when you see your logo.

Andy there is a difference between the DVD map disc and CD required for the upgrade, my maps are burnt at 2x without issue on DVD-R and DVD-RW

Can i ask where you downloaded the Update ISO image from. I've looked all my usual places and can't find the right one.

Thanks

Nick
