Just wondered if there should be anything showing in the little black box bit of the nav screen when using multidisk changer?

I usually get the track/album/artist in there, but only usually play CDs full of MP3s, so it may be reading the tags.

I suppose any CD with CD-text on may also display that info?

Had the same black window.

Start playing a CD press INFO scroll down using right knob to Audiotext and press to select (tick)

Need help. I am so disappointed with the way the stereo does NOT display anything when playing CD's. Blank screen just like Yamiuchi used to have.

In my car there is no "audiotext" when I press "info". Only "TP" and nav. volome something.

The car is Z4 3.0i July 2004 with proff navi with 6 CD charger, but no DSP sound system.

Software is upgraded to naw.sw(v32) and in SET it reads sw 4-1/00 in top right corner.

You will need Dension, Intravee or similar to get ID3 tags to display with mp3's

I am not playing MP3's as it won't play them. Burnt the CD as "data" in stead of "audio" as I read you should.

I am playing CD's and the screen is blank and I can't select the "audiotext" in "info".

Did you choose the option in your CD burning app to include 'CD-Text'? If not, it won't have put this information onto the CD, and so there's nothing to show on the head unit.

I burnt a CD with mp3 but that won't play at all. But the normal CD's that won't show any info, they are from a shop and not burnt.

I am wondering why I don't have the "audiotext" option under info.

As mmm-five says when burning a CD you need t choose the option to add text to the audio CD otherwise the tags won't get added

That explains why mine is blank then - I'm listening to normal CDs.

OK maybe I am a little dumb but please clarify for me:

1 - Can my NavProf 6 CDC system play mp3?

2 - Of yes is it then right that when I burn the CD with mp3's it must be burned as data, not audio. And if text is included artist, album and song will be in the display?

3 - If I play normal music CD from shop it will not display artist etc. As it is for me now screen is blank and I can't chose "audiotext" under info to make it show.

4 - If I burn a copy of a normal CD form shop and ask burning software to include text, will it then display artist etc.

1 . Only facelift models with black fronted stereo facia will play MP3's, changers also only from facelift.

2. NA

3. I don't buy CD's now but of the hundreds I have only 1 or 2 have CD text on them. Like all things it took a long time to catch on (if it ever did)

4. yes. I used to use Nero which would go online and automatically download the data and burn to CD.

You only get the Audio Text option with radios (CIDs) built from September 2005.

If I install the seemingly very nice DICE Mediabridge, will I then get text on the screen?

If I find a black fronted radio (and swap the front for the grey) will the music from the charger then show text? Or only CD player in stereo?

3)
Is there a stereo from another BMW (non Z4) that will do the job? That will make it easier to source it.

1. Can't say if it will display text or not (MP3), best to contact reseller or manufacturer for confirmation. Not aware of anybody on here having one.

2. Only the CD player I would think.

3. X3 is he same Stereo (first gen X3)
