Sat Nav Screen Frozen

My sat nat screen has been intermittently resetting itself and has finally given in and frozen on the 'computer' display. I have switched the ignition off only to see the same frozen screen when starting up again. The music / CD/ Radio / Aux will continue to play so its not the media system as a whole thats failing, just the screen. Does anyone have any ideas for the reason behind it or how I can fix it?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
 
Do a battery disconnect reset first, that might just sort it out. Also check the battery condition as a battery on its last legs can give all manner of weird problems.
 
Yep - it regularly happens on my copied 2012 (double sided) disc but not one original 2009 disc

But all depends on what 'disc' this chap is using

50/50 that works on mine - normally I have to just wait till it unfreezes. Have thrown that disc away and now using the oem one just fine

Thanks chaps.

When I bought the car, probably a couple of months ago now, it was running an old map disc. I bought the updated one with firmware update via a bmw navigation site. I guess my options are now to either go back to the original OEM disc, purchase the new OEM disk, or get back in contact with the site I bought this disk from and get a replacement?
 
The firmware I have will alert to speed cameras and allow 7 digit postcode searching which I think is non standard?
 
Sounds like you have v32.2 which is a modded version to allow the speed camera alerts. If you want to try a standard v32 version I have it on my google drive and can share the link.
 
I got in the car this morning and the screen seems to have sorted itself out. Its a reoccurring problem though so needs to be fixed properly. At the moment I'm having a new disc sent out, if that fails I'll take you up on the offer of rolling back the firmware.Thanks for the help.
 
I have a modified firmware and non oem disk and it works fine. The dual layer disks that work best seem to be verbatim +R disks that are burnt at the slowest speed. If in general use, you can hear a lot of disk activity from the drive compared with an oem one, I wouldn't use it as the drive will be working overtime trying to read the disk.
