Sat Nav regulations.

I would just like to quote from a publication ( Caravan Club Magazine ) that came through the door today,
" Sat Nav systems that warn of fixed speed camera locations are now illegal to use in France. People travelling to France can either de-activate this function, or remove the information completely .
The penalty for non-compliance is a fine up to 1500 Euro's and the confiscation of the equipment.
All signs warning of fixed speed camera locations in France have now been removed. There are similar rules in Germany, Ireland and Switzerland.

+ now in France you need to carry a breathalyser also along with all the other shite you have had to carry for a while.

Just goes to show it's a revenue generation exercise for the French police too!

The only reason to remove the signs and ban electronic warnings systems is to ensure that you don't know where they are. If they're there to reduce accidents, then surely knowing where they are and reducing your speed in that area is exactly what it's meant to be doing?

BTW, I've got a clean licence :P

I drive in France every other month or so, and been flashed so often I can't count anymore. For us it does not matter if you are flashed.

Going there in a few weeks again, but have not got a breathalyser though. eBay here I come I think :)

Wonder if it will happen over here as well?

Probably :(

I have a clean licence, but even the most careful driver could be caught under these rules, if they are introduced in the UK. Poor show

Just means you have to find a place other than the windscreen to attach yer TomTom ........
Sounds like a new market opportunity ..............
