SAT NAV PROBLEM NO GPS

Noticed when using the sat nav that it seems to only be picking up a gps signals sometimes (top right corner of the screen). A trip over the weekend on the M2 showed me travelling in fields the entire time.

Is there anyway to check why it only picks up the signal sometimes and how do i reset it.

disconnect the battery for a few minues to totally reset the car, if that doesnt work then buy a new gps antenna from ebay for around £12-15 and see if that fixes the problem. It's a bit of a job to remove the original GPS antenna as it's located in the dashboard or so I have been told the rear view mirror on some (by PVR) but it plug sin behind the dvd drive so can be got at through the boot. You can put the antenna in that area near the top of the interior bulkhead and it should get a signal as long as it's not covered by metal.
