Sat Nav - Night View

There seems to be no Auto Night View on the screen? (2016 car)
As a work around, I set the screen to Night and have used button 8 as a toggle.
 
No auto mode. Bmw bean counters never upgraded the tech in the e89 that much (combox that’s about it). Its well over 10 years out of date.

Inky fingers and engineers will rarely agree!
 
I'm surprised that nobody has had a stab at 'upgrading' the tech in the E89 actually. I'd be really interested to know of any projects to put a newer version of the iDrive & nav system in..
 
Yes I have mine set up on button 8, but if I am honest, I always forget to switch it over unless I am on a long run, never seems to bother me, but it would be good it if it automatically changed, even my sons girlfriend little pug does it :headbang:
 
Does anyone know what the little hole on the right border of the screen is for.
At first i thought that was a sensor or some sort of reset hole just big enough for a paper clip.

I’m off to look at mine now- to be honest, I have never noticed a hole on mine.
 
Mine (2011) doesn't have the hole, but I had a 2012 3 series with nav once and that had the hole. I to thought it was a light sensor, but I was reliably informed by the dealer that it wasn't.

Therefore....it could be!
