Sat Nav Install Template

Does anyone know where I can obtain a template for use in cutting the dash on my 05 Z4 to retro-fit the Sat Nav screen unit? One web site shows a part number 01 29 0 301 834, but the local Arizona Stealer says that's not in the dealership network. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

PM KevShore , he has one.

I made my own based on the screen and some cardboard.

Thanks to you both. I will simply follow pvr's lead and just make my own. You would be surprised how LITTLE help you can get here in Arizona! The only answer I got on a USA board was "check on eBay, but I warn you it's very expensive" and the BMW dealer said "sorry, it's not available in the dealer network". The actual part has a number, 01 29 0 301 834, with a suggested price of 80 cents US!

Hi,

I made my own a few yaers ago now. Just remember that a 'flat template of cardboard may fit the nav unit, but not necessarily the car. (i know it sounds obvious).

I molded the card to the dash, the get the correct curves. - then re-inforced the card with gaffer tape (so that the card stays curved in the right ways).

then cut that template to fit the screen. then offer the template back up to the car.

Trust me, there is only about 1mm of leeway on either side of the hole for the nav screen. You need to be spot on.

Good luck! :)

I used a cardboard template like PVR but I think I have a PDF of he real one.

I will have a dig around
