I was toying with the idea but don't think it's worth the cost and hassle (especially cutting the dash) when the unit will always be inferior to a TomTom (or other make).
This is always going to be one of those debates on which there is no right or wrong answer in terms of 'inferior unit'
Personally I doubt I'd go through the retrofit process purely to get Sat Nav, nor for bluetooth, nor better radio, nor MFSW, etc. in isolation...
Sat Nav (and for that matter the telephony) are much easier to achieve with aftermarket which have generally better mapping, easy to fit and portable. Actually I have damn good Sat Nav on my vodaphone Blackberry and also on my rarely used PDA, both equal to or better than OEM for pure mapping, so that's what I'd do if I just wanted the one item.
On the other side as PVR mentions it's the totally integrated aspect and 'oh so neat' installation.
The real benefit to me is total integration from audio, phone, mapping, voice control of sat nav and phone, integrated speakers, mike, etc. etc.. All steering wheel and/or voice controlled. No power leads, no suckers/mounts. One retractable large screen. The list goes on. As a TOTAL package there is nothing on the market that is even in the same league, but that's just my opinion
