Sat Nav - How do you mount yours?

Using the money from bits im taking off my MINI im going to invest in a TomTom (550).

Any tips on how to mount it other than on the window? (Dont fancy holes in my dash)

I have mine mounted on the bottom corner of the window, it sits right on the dash and doesn't block any forward vision. For my pickup I got a heavy vinylrubber pad from Best-Buy that has a tacky base (but no glue ) and a round polished plate in the middle for the suction cup. It works very well on a big dash and forms to the curves of the dash.

A Brodit ProClip on one of the vents would be the obvious choice. The cupholder would also be an option, but there's no off the shelf solution for it as far as I know.

I hang mine from the windshield-in the middle but forward. Puts it in my line of site but doesn't block it as it sits just above the dash.

I mount mine in in the bottom corner of the windscreen and route the power wire under the steering column and plugs into the 12v in the centre console. Quite discreet here and obscures far less of the view forward than if it was mounted in the centre.

In my van I bought a sticky-backed plastic disc - I stuck this to the dashboard then the sucker mount on my TomTom mounts directly to that. That's a better solution than windscreen mounting in the van because of the distance the windscreen is from the driver! Might work well on the Z4 if you mount it where the factory sat nav usually pops up from.

A non destructive clip (on Z4) fits to left of heater controls
Comes in two parts
Custom clip for the vehicle and then a mount customised to gadget which fits onto mount
I have in both cars works brilliantly and as I said is non destructive

Personally I think the brodit mount for the z4 is too low...
