Sat Nav Firmware Version?

Is there a way to check this?

I saw a thread on Zed cars that had 3D mapping - will the new firmware do this, or is that the 'pirate' disc with speed cameras only?

I have the 2008-2 disc in there now.
 
The 3D perspective view, is a function of the sat nav OS not the mapping disk. Go to X5world.com and download the late version from their site. Full instructions on there.

IIRC it's V31 now

There are also full instrustions on seeing which version of OS you have from the 'set' menu
 
I only just picked up the car - I'll insist they do it!

I expect a dealer to update all software to the newest version before selling it really.
 
Upgraded to v31 last week and switched on perspective mode (you'll probably have read this on the X5 forums but you need to activate this feature whatever version of the OS you're on). Very easy to do (takes much less time and effort than taking the car back to the dealer) and I really like it actually - can't believe I've only just discovered it though, had the car well over 2 years! Got new maps aswell so look forward to testing them out at the weekend on a road I commonly use which wasn't there in 2004.

From what I have seen you wont stand much chance of getting this done FOC, unless there is a problem which upgrading the firmware will fix.
 
Good luck if you can get a dealer to do it for free.
DIY is so easy - download, burn to disk, stick it in sat dvd drive, wait 5 mins - done.

Unless you are like me and there is a major evacuation going on at the back when I walk through the front door 8)
 
Funnily enough, when I just rang the dealer to check on a few parts I have on order, they had a fire evacuation going on :lol:

It is a bit of a leap of faith after reading some of the stories on the net of people killing their sat nav altogether but I think they were all from people with a Mk3 system. Have you got the perspective mode working?
 
Yep perspective is working, I enabled it in the hidden mode but then wondered why it didn't work. Had a play then realised you had to also enable it in the main map view menu too.

Where do I put postcodes in now? Do they go in the town box?
 
Not tried Postcodes yet but did notice the option in the menu is now something like "City/PC" so I think you're right.
 
Of course I cannot offer any guarantees but I have upgraded my software at least 20 times on each of 2 Bimmers without issue. The reason for so many upgrades was while experimenting with personal changes to the os I would change sky, splash screen, icons, etc. After each upgrade I could 'downgrade to the previous level to restore. Not a single problem (just a lot of scrap cd's playing around with options)
