Sat nav, and stereo

Im trying to figure out what all the options for sat nav and stereo are.
Is the screen that is in the top of the dash do anything other than sat nav in standard form? Does it look really dated and can it be easily modyfied to have a more modern appearance?
The only thing I like about my clio's stereo is the stering column mounted controls for the radio, is there anything like this for the z4?

yer im missing the stearing controlls from my 172

you can get multifunction on stearing wheel

if you get intravee, the screen can do allot more, best mod ive put on mine

as for the layouts etc yer kinda stuck with the old interfaces, unless you start mounting a adroid tablet in there like one fellas doingg, looks good but the effort of it all would be a last resort for me
 
It does say nav, displays radio stations, trip computer, and a graphic equaliser where equipped. It looks really dated and as far as I know the appearance can't be updated. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the sat nav to accept 7 digit post codes, it's so bad it's unusable. Every time I've needed to use it I couldn't find the address I needed and ended up resting my phone on the dash and used google maps. You'd really not be missing out on much if you didn't have the nav, but it's nice to have it on your spec list anyhow.
 
Thanks guys, I'm thinking it's probably best to have this on my rather not have list as I prefer the look of the dash without it.
 
tbh if i didnt have it id put std size head unit in.

but intravee controls few things, as for postcode u need to hack the original and insert them
 
Yea I thought I did, I put V32.2 on with the 2015 High maps. The problem is the internet :dizzy: I spent a whole week relentlessly scrolling through thousands upon thousands of pages of people asking how to do it, and never getting a straight answer, or an answer for a different system with a whole load of ifs buts and maybes, which then all led to dodgy websites & ebay sellers. I'm a master at hunting down stuff on the net but this is a wild goose chase.
 
yer unfortunatly the easiest way is dodgy copies, there was a guide on how to add them yerself allong with speed camera alerts , but how u add the code all depends on the map version
 
Familiar story. Everything depended on something else, then you'd find the hyperlink to the download you need but it was hosted on a file sharing site which no longer exists... round and around and around :dizzy: I gave up in the end. If I ever do figure it out I'll create a bullet proof guide on here so that nobody else has to get mind screwed on the multi-forum circle jerk of doom :roll:
I'd have been oh so mega p*ssed if I'd paid the optional extra cost for this sat nav on a new BMW! Genuinely, you spend more time trying to pin down an address in the sat nav than it would take to just google it and drive there! Haha

/rant over :lol:
