I recently bought a 2005 Z4. It has just about every option including sport suspension which I assume, along with the run flats, has caused several scratches on the sat nav disk. This means that some of the time it doesn't work. Therefore I am looking for a new disk and would like the latest 2012 version.
I went to my local BMW dealer and they said that a new disk would be £180 which seems ridiculous! I have found some cheaper versions on the web such as this: [link removed]
But what is putting me off buying one is that the man at the dealer said that unofficial discs can lock up the system which would mean a new system at £1200!!! Is this accurate or am I just being fooled into spending more money?
I could buy one on eBay but then again, how would I know the disc was official?
