Sapphire black on the M's - colour differences?

This is very true, the carbon black, looks like a very dark blue imo.

In bright sunshine, the blue fleck really pops, but in dull light the colour almost resembles a blob of ink.

Listed as black, but never really looks black.....it's oh soo much more :wink:
 
i think i prefer the Carbon Black and at least it isn' t called Black Carbon sodon't have to get the name right before the forum pedants get upset :thumbsup:

I should add - mine is a commoner Z4, and therefore I'm not sure it qualifies for discussion in the "M Specific" subject of black sapphire paint :poke:

Ah no, I'm going to have to completely disagree. In low light Tiag and silver grey look fantastic, but with lighter colours it's hard to get as much contrast. On bright days the contrast that the darker colours generate (especially with the metallic flecks) really accentuates the lines of the zed. The middle picture I posted shows it the best, but not perfectly.

Pretty much the only reason I wanted Carbon black/ midnight blue over Tiag. The look of the darker colours in the sun is fantastic....although that seems somewhat counter intuitive in the UK :( .

I need to get mine looking like that - getting very close to borrowing Jan's DA for a couple of weeks...
 
Strange thing is - I did all that by hand :headbang:

I have a DA on loan, but never got round to using it :o

I'm dreading buying another car next year, as there's simply no way it'll be a condition any where near as good as the zed I've just sold. And the pics above are of a 10 yr old car :!:
 
I tried doing mine by hand. Didn't put serious science into it, but it took way too long and hurt way too much to consider doing the whole car :cry:

Options are: M3 (E92, or low mileage E46), Z4M, Cayman, RS4

Also considered SLK55 AMG but after a thread on here I've been put off :(

Yes, CSL owners seem to want to use their cars and their forums all seem to push people to use them rather than just polish them. That's the correct attitude to have to be honest.
