Sanity check on price and spec

I am looking to take the plunge and purchase a 2008 Sport Coupe.

Have been using this forum as a great resource to get clued up. Thanks all.

Just wanted to do a sanity check on price and spec:

Individual paint. Bi-colour leather. Piano black trim.

Loudspeaker - Mirror pack - Xenons - Sun glass - Comfort package. Bridgestone RFT's with 3-5mm tread all round.

Full BMW Service History

Fully comp 12mth BMW warranty inc.

Full MOT and HPI clear

30k miles

What sort of money would people think this is worth?

I contemplated an RAC or AA inspection, but with warranty and clean MOT thought this might be OTT.

Car is from independent (non bmw) dealer at 15k and have offer in at 14k. From my research so far this appeared to be a reasonable price.

Out of interest- I wondered why you mentioned tyres.. Is that in a recommendation to upgrade to non run flats, and is that cost £450/500 for a full set?

2008 with 30k is a good example tho it won't see low end value. 13-5 - 14s not bad from a dealer even if it is an independent.

Maybe you could buy an M but high miler and it will be 56 plate...

Ms are becoming more and more poor value for money, when they were 15-18k for a low mile high spec example like when I bought mine now stupid money. I couldn't buy mine back with the same mileage for less than 18k for a 10 year old car with higher mileage. I bought mine 4 years ago for less than that... Mental there is now better in the market to buy. I don't nessasarily like them but you can get a decent reg Cayman s with low mileage high spec for less than the M now. When I bought mine they are a 5k premium going the opposite way now. They are great cars but not worth the money a god example is now. No way I would spend over 20k on one.

Tomscott- To add a bit more - this is my biggest car expenditure to date. I love the shape of the e86 coupe in particular and am looking for the latest and lowest mileage example I can find with a good spec. I am coming from a 1.4 auto Clio! so it'll be a whole new world in terms of performance! So whilst I admire the ///M I do not feel the need and would rather put my funds towards a lower mileage non ///M and own for many happy miles. FSH and warranty are important to me. What do you mean "it won't see low end value".

Jonny- I have been looking for several months now- with ebay, auto-trader and approved bmw alerts setup. Unfortunately I have not seen anything this age with this low mileage for around the 12 mark. Similar examples from a BMW main stealer are advertised at around £16.8k! I did see a high spec '06 with 68k for £10.5k, but would rather younger and less miles.

Found the car in question up at £15k through a private dealer. You missed off bluetooth, cruise, heated seats, MSFW, New England Bi Leather, which are all extra options.

All in all its not far off its real value. Probably a good deal would be £13k (private value), reasonable £14k, high £15k (BMW dealer value) but being a high spec (minus nav) late 2008 (dec) low mileage coupe it will boost the value. Its very hard to find similar cars to this, I'd say DPG's old coupe comes closest..

Which he was selling for a very reasonable £12,500 so I stick by my above values

On viewing the car it did not remember it having cruise control, there was no stalk for this. (Presuming it is on a stalk) and I didn't see the option appearing in a VIN no. Spec search.

The bmw fully comp warranty which I have negotiated is worth £350, which helps.

I tried to get insurance with Chris knotts who were very courteous. However, could only insure it if I had already owned the car for a year.

£340 with Axa though, not bad for in my early 30's I thought.
