Hi Sam, good to see you enjoying the Zed. Funnily enough I bought a E85 3.0si at the similar time and whilst not central London, I'm in Wimbledon so got a totally unsuitable car that I only drive at weekends! We had similar lists of things to do too, I've had Cruise Control fitted by Steve on the forum and Bowser34 did my motor relocation, I would recommend both. Funnily enough, seat leather conditioning was on my list for this weekend too!
Enjoy the car, keep up with the updates.

Hello mate, Wimbledon, not far at all, Putney is only up the road. I dont know how far along you are with getting your car sorted but I have a Carly if you want to change anything. Little things like making the indicator do a 3 blink instead of 1 makes a big difference to me.

Funnily I wasnt going to do much to this car but now I am, it has got right under my skin! The two mods you suggested I am in the process of sorting. Steve is very kind and we are going to get a date in the diary... I have a cruise stalk en route. I must contact Bowser34 and get that done asap.

Who looks after your car?

Join the club! I'm in Richmond and bought my 3.0 SMG back in May; it too only gets weekend use, although it's about to do a 1000+ mile round trip up to Aberdeen next week.

Just dropped my newly-purchased 107 style wheels off for refurb at First Aid Wheels - surprised when they said they would be ready by wednesday! I was expecting a post-new year collection (which is what I was planning for).

I haven’t had it serviced it yet as had just been done when I bought it, so still on the look out for an independent to do it.

Didn’t realised the Carly system could do that- one of my biggest annoyances is the 3 tick thing- deffo would take you up on that!

Parabolica- interesting about first aid wheels, need to get mine sorted too.

Ah, funny we are all in the same boat. Other than having to go to Lyme Regis once a month my car is purely to enjoy.

First thing I did was get my MV2's refurbed. I am going to get some new wheels in the new year though.

I am using Gilberts which is 20 mintues drive for me. One man band but he is a lovely guy. He is giving my car a once over on wednesday and fitting mtec brakes and standard suspension springs (replacing eibach sports as mine is an m-sport and it sooooooooo low). I will report back.

Ok all, can anyone help. Opinions on if I should change the spings on my car with the aim of it not being so low.

Current: Standard, possibly original shocks with Eibach sport springs.
Possible change: Standard original shocks with new standard springs.
Or: Something else which someone is going to tell me about.

Cheers.

What about the Si sport springs? Lower and a bit firmer than SE spec I believe, but not too firm or low. I had them on my 2.5si and found them to be very good for comfort/handling and ride height.
Changing suspension is a very popular mod with members here so there should be plenty of advice forthcoming if people spot this thread.

...only problem is they snap in half every time you run over a catseye.

Well after 10 years (I'm guessing they were original) mine were still ok. Maybe just lucky?

Today... car dropped off at Gilbert’s BMW and my new tips arrived... in the fanciest box ever.

Just got my car back from Gilberts BMW over in Acton, London. Adrian is such a good guy and really knows his cars, especially BMW.

He removed the Eibach sport springs and replaced with standard M-Sport. Also, fitted new front discs and pads and rear pads along with brake fluid. My new exhaust trim was in the car so he put those on for me.

I asked him to look out for anything that might need attention while doing the above jobs and he said the car is in good shape and couldnt find anything. Two things to note, an exhaust bracket was broken so he welded it back together for me and good news was the front wishbones were powerflexed.

With the spacers, good tyres, eibach springs the cars handling is very good and sharp but it is too low and unforgiving on bumps.

I am so happy now with the M-Sport springs, the ride height looks perfect to my eyes, not a tractor but not boy racer... obviously these things are personal and it is just how I like now. Its the ride which I love, feels so much better over bumps... it is not quite as sharp but it is still great and I would rather have a little less sharpness and compliance over bumps. It is an interesting comparison as the Eibach springs are very recent from previous owner.

For track a coupe with the Eibach springs, spacers, powerflex and good tyres must be awesome... for public roads i think the above is spot on.

Santa came early for me this year... not being fitted until the 9th jan though!

Gave the car a quick wash today and took the seats out to give the interior a proper clean. Haven’t had a chance since buying but wanted to so it smells clean... not that it is grubby.

Only a quick snow foam and wash... not drying/claying/paint prep... but it came up nicely.
