Sales people lie *RANT*

Shock horror. The earth is round too.

I bought my 2008 Z4 last year with 58k miles on it last July and am now trying to sell it with 61k miles on it (too poor, need something bigger etc.). Someone on the forum helpfully suggested I contact someone within the same large BMW group who had just bought his Z4. To my shock I had a reply back saying that the car was too high mileage for them to buy. So, it is ok for them to sell it to me only 3000 miles earlier then? What an utter bunch of f***tards. I now feel that I don't want to trust the dealer group.

That is all.

Forgot to mention that the local service department offered to give me a printout of all work done, so I drove 4 miles in and then had a protracted discussion about why they couldn't give me the printout because of the Data Protection Act. Sigh

Sounds very frustrating, but I'm guessing 60k is the cut off mark then?

You'll do better selling privately anyway, traders will always try to screw you over.

There are over six Z4`s on the AUC site with over 60k miles on them at the moment so it doesn't make much sense.

Probably paid a pittance for them taken in part exchange, and will sell them on for a song to another poor mug.

There was an MC with 76k on AUC not long ago. Mileage is all subjective b@llocks to give them an excuse for not wanting your car

That's usually me when I chop my old cars in I watch what they go up for & then I obviously buy a AUC car so it always seems to be a lose lose for me! you always pay over the odds for a AUC car & then get hammered on the trade in too...I need to think about selling & buying private as that makes more financial sense I think.

Wel they have to pay for big showrooms and lots of staff. If you don't like car dealerships then just don't se them. Plenty of decent cars out there as private sales, just get a proper inspection done and buy a warranty if you feel the need.

Five out of the six BMW`s I have purchased have all been AUC & I have been very happy with all of them to be honest, you do pay more but I have been happy & truth be known its worth the extra to me as I cant be bothered with all the hassle of private buying & selling but what works for one person doesn't work for another so its nice to have both options.

Car dealers are a business so they have to make money, I used to buy & sell all my cars private once upon a time but I don't anymore strangely.

I pulled up outside of the showroom of Williams BMW in Stockport a couple of weeks ago,i wanted to look at an E92 M3 they had in..

I pulled up in my Xk and got out of the car,a salesmen was walking into the showroom and looked across at me and said "Err are you going to be parked there long?"

I replied..... "No,in fact i think i will f**k off now"..

Salesman wankers...

Brilliant!

Andi.

Edit: Ring the dealer principle!

It know with Minis there is a age and or millage cut off point BMs do seem different in that respect, however it's the 4th of March, they've probably taken in quite a few cars on Saturday with the new reg so have no need for anymore cars at present. I'd find another dealer or speak with the salesman you bought the car from, they are usually more willing to do deals.

To be fair to the local dealer's service department, I was emailed scanned copies of the invoices they have for my car today. Surprised and pleased.
