Sale items - opinions

First off i am not selling anything. Have posted here so hopefully no one who is selling stuff gets offended.
Just want to put my opinion out there. :tumbleweed: We are all enthusiasts and i think thats why we all frequent the forum, however i frequently see items for sale that are used and no longer wanted that are being sold for a price not far off retail. It may be me but i feel that if you are getting rid of used items then surely you would be looking to give another forum member an absolute bargain. Before i get any abuse, i have just given my boot liner to another member because i didnt need it anymore. I sent Bing a replacement auto gear knob when he damaged his due to a post i put up. (That was a while back)
Anyway this is just my opinion and not directed at a particular forum or sale. All discussion and opinions welcome.

I agree I try to make sure if I sell anything it is well below retail and have also had great deals from members I hope all members would try too follow some sort of code omo   :D

Have done similar in the past , with disa upgrade kit, although then got the favour returned with a good deal, an offered the LCD panel out if the nav but had no takers

I've had some great deals buying off forum members, for example a mint M steering wheel with tri-stitching for £200, also my OEM BMW style 32 refurbed alloys on Goodyear Eagle F1s for £400 including fitting. F10 tail pipes for £20, as new JVC stereo £70 including fitting - I could go on. I don't sell much, but when I do I try to give a 'forum' price.

I'm always amazed at how much Gaptechs sell for. I thought I'd pick one up for £50ish but they go for over £70, may as well just buy a new one and have the warranty etc!

Market forces I suppose, hey ho :)

What about when something is NLA?

Such as folding roof covers. I paid £60 for mine, and that was from Germany as not available in the UK, but now price is easily over £100.

I've given bits away for nowt, but things like folding roof covers have a value and I have no issue in these selling for market rate, as long as they are described correctly.

I've given stuff away for free (including a whippy) and always price my items at well below RRP. If by some chance I've got the price wrong I'll happily lower it. Don't get those people trying to sell so close to RRP when, like you say, we're all enthusiasts.

tricky one. If you can afford to give bits away or offer a cheaper price then that's great, some may need every penny they can get which is fine. I've 'sold' things for postage cost only or forum donation but generally only cheaper things.

Good comments guys, i think most people are of the same opinion then.. rob s i totally get your comment and agree when needs must. i got a fantastic deal from dpbayly1 on a backbox, sub and fitting on said back box and springs. Its good that thete are so many out there doing it for the love of what we drive. Well done guys

In the past when I have bought stuff cheap off the forum, I usually give a donation to the forum, at least it helps with the running of the site and goes towards the mods lavish Christmas dinner
