Sainsbury's Car Insurance

Hey all,

Just a heads up really, I'm 26, 5 years no claims no points or accidents etc. £491 for the year! :) Well worth checking, most insurers were £800+

i was with sainsburys for two years then they started putting it up.. (think they go through admiral could be wrong though) so always look around next year... saying that i thought they were ok..

Most of these companies enter the insurance market (usually with rebadged policies from someone else) start cheap and then crank it up over the following years. I was with Tesco for a couple of years withn several cars, muntil this year whne they near doubled it for no reason.nrefused to premium match, etc. etc. and I was off.

Bottom line - enjoy the premium while you can then as Deka says look again next year.

I'm also with Sainsburys, they have been the cheapest for me for the past two years. I always tend to shop around just to make sure I am getting a good deal though. :)

Yeah I shop around each year too. I was with Hastings as they were the cheapest but have so many hidden costs. They also said they were unable to insure me on my current (at the time) policy whist driving a Z4. They then said I had to pay £50 to cancel the policy even though they were unable to provide me with a product / service. Ridiculous! Insurance is something which really grinds my gears. It's the law to have it yet it would seem no one within the government is remotely interested in governing it. Thus we all end up spending a fortune on thin air. When you do crash, you pay for it in the following 3 - 5 years premiums. :headbang:

Just did a quote online but they want a tracker or similar to insure an ///M

Switched from Sainsburys having been with them for 2 years. Now with Esure as they were over £75 cheaper. :D

Interesting I just switched from Esure to Sainsbury's yesterday as they were over £100 cheaper! Just goes to show that all risks are different.
The insurance hasn't started yet though so I think I'll call Chris Knott to see what they can offer - got to go some to beat £270 though.

I think most of the companies try to act smart by throwing carrot before the new customers and after some time start showing their true colors. I think one should not fall for the lofty promises, do some serious comparison analysis and feedback from existing users.

Just got my renewal letter through. Need to go through the going of quoting round the houses again. Hate it. :x

Pretty much the case of changing each year for me now....
Same here I just go with the cheapest for the cover and extras I want - comparison sites make the process so easy. Wack in your details get a quote - call existing company to see if they will match, if so you're sorted if not then change.

Swiftcover have been cheapest for me for the last two years. Just went on the comparison sites and Saga are now offering me the best deal. Feck me I really am an old git!

I was shocked at how my insurance has plummeted.. Manchester.. Considered high risk.. Was always (since my e85 3 years back) a minimum of £1300 a year. This last renewal.. £650!

The previously mentioned Sainsburys / Esure policy changes are an interesting one as Esure used to be, and may even still be the underwrites for Sainsburys car insurance.
