except in my case had reversed in to bay so belt off (always do that comes from being old enough to remember static belts) pulled forward then open door to check im lined up ok and into park it pops ( I say pops it scared the sh*t out of me) the point being i was in drive before I opened door not the other way round
 
It seems my car wants to kill me. I can drive no problems with my door open and belt off. I didn't test what speed I could get up to though.

Does the sat nav woman also tell you to take your belt off before you have reached your destination?

car is a sept 10 normal auto.

Exactly the same with mine, just tried (it's also a 10 plate auto). All I had was the bong and a message telling me to select 'P'
