(by the hande brake under the centre console) i removed it and found some contamination on the printed circuit, cleaned it correctly... and replaced it, but, red light still stays on. question.....if the issue has been resolved would the red light not come on, when starting up ,or would the module need resetting ? all help is appeiciated thanks.

The airbag fault code needs clearing before the dash warning goes out.

Whereabouts are you.?

I was under the impression that unless you install a brand new unit and code the module to the car it will show an error, though you had to clear the used module as it stores the mileage etc. there was a right up some time ago by KIS on here.

Hi Everyone
I am now in need of a new module for my z , I have tried ebay without much success, with the vat bmw dealer wants £750, just wondering
if anybody knows of a decent parts supplier or maybe online company I could try, any input would be vey much appreciated..

thanks

You could try quarry motors as they are very good and reasonable prices, they are based in Sheffield but deliver round the uk ‭0114 275 5916‬

Hi mate, I’m the one mac27040 was referring to 8)
Think it’s been done a few times by other people as well. If you take a look at this link, it should help. Any questions feel free to give me a shout

I will also add that if you’ve cleaned the module already then make sure you fully re-set the fault codes. I’m not sure a “home” unit like Carly will work. You want something a bit more robust INPA or similar. My point is make sure faults are being read and cleared properly. There is no point buying a module if all you need is the faults properly cleared... did you take it back to the garage to see if cleaning it did the trick?

Hi Mac
Thanks for that, thats really great, just to let you know were I am at the moment, I followed wooksters advice and called quarry motor, and
I was dead lucky, they had the module I needed, correct part number, so dead chuffed, booked in for next week to good garage for the
technical stuff,so,fingers crossed.......will let you no if it works.

I will just say again, thanks very much to all you guy for your trusted inputs... :D

Worth mentioning most garages can read/diagnose/clear faults and possibly code. But programming a module is slightly more complex, so make sure they're geared up for changing a module vin number.

Cheers for that, the garage apparently, has all the tech, he as told me he can do all the programming thats needed for this second hand module....

thanks

An update on the module saga, the garage I use is in Hinkely, deals mostly bmw, seemed a real good guy done all the progamming and couple
of other things, all spot one............. :D
